Administrative responsibility for illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine is specified by Ukrainian laws.
In particular, Article 204-1 of Codex of Ukraine on Administrative Violations defines the next:
Crossing or attempt of crossing of the state border of Ukraine in any way outside of checkpoints of the state border of Ukraine or through checkpoints of the state border of Ukraine without appropriate documents or with documents which contain misrepresentative information about the person, or without a permission of due government authorities
- brings forth imposeing of a fine from one to two hundred of tax-free minimum incomes, or an administrative arrest for a term up to fifteen days.
The same actions committed by a group of persons or a person who was a subject to administrative sanctions during the year period for one of violations mentioned in the first part of this Article,
- brings forth imposeing of a fine from two to five hundred of tax-free minimum incomes.
The validity of this Article does not apply to cases of return to Ukraine without specified documents of citizens of Ukraine who became victims of crimes related to people trafficking, as well as cases of arrival to Ukraine of foreigners or stateless persons with the intent to obtain asylum or to be recognized in Ukraine as refugees or persons who need additional protection if they applied for asylum or presented a petition on recognition as a refugee or a person in need of additional protection according to the Law of Ukraine "On Refugees and Persons in Need of Subsidiary Protection or Temporary Asylum ".
